Australian Swamp Rat

Rattus lutreolus lutreolus

Nocturnal or partly diurnal. Their distribution in the region is fragmented and mostly concentrated in the wetter southern areas, but they are common in the right habitat. They can be found in swamps, moist grasslands, sedgelands and low-lying heathlands, and are dependant on dense groundcover.
