Flower: White simple shaped, 4-5 petals
Leaves: 1 to 2 inches long, up to 1 inch wide, shape somewhat variable, hairless green to purplish stalk up to ½ inch long, edges toothless except for few minute teeth at tip, surfaces hairless
Fruit/Seed: bright red, round berry, ¼ to 1/3 inch diameter, persists through winter
Height: 3-15 feet
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: Bogs, swamps, wet woods, thickets, swales, shores
