Dalea candida is a species of flowering plant in the legume family known by the common name white prairie clover. It is native to North America, where it can be found throughout central Canada, the central United States, and northern Mexico. A member of the pea family, white prairie clover stands 2 to 3 feet tall in small clumps. It has a compact or elongated inflorescence (up to 4 inches long) with a cluster of sessile white flowers. Flowers are much simplified from the typical pea-like flower. Leaves grow at the base and at wide intervals along the woody stem.

Uses 3

White Prairie Clover is a native legume and can be used as a forb component to restore disturbed lands. It is palatable for livestock and native grazers so must not be overgrazed. Its seeds and roots are a food source for native birds and rodents.
