• Bark: smooth to moderately hairy, lack prickles and thorns
• Fruit/Seed: round clustered berry, ¼ to ½ inch in diameter, turning red to dark red when mature
• Height: 4-6 inches

• Habitat: stream banks, forest or shrub swamps, upland forest, open moist meadows
