Flower: White simple shaped, 5-6 petals
Leaves: Alternately arranged, compound with three leaflets, leaflets 1¼ to 3 inches long, ¾ to 2 inches wide, lance-elliptic, center leaflet short-stalked and mostly diamond-shaped, lateral leaflets stalkless, tapering to a pointed tip, the base wedge shaped to round, the compound leaf stalk hairy and ¾ to 3 inches long, lower surface hairy
Fruit/Seed: round clustered berry, ¼ to ½ inch in diameter, turning red to dark red when mature
Height: 4-6 inches
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: stream banks, forest or shrub swamps, upland forest, open moist meadows
