Flower: White rounded cluster
Leaves: basal leaves; ½-2½ inches long and up to ¾ inch wide, football shaped, lower surface is silvery white from dense matted hairs, upper surface gray-green with woolly hairs but may become hairless later in the season. stem leaves; 1 inch long and about 1/8 inch wide, woolly hairy, widely spaced along stem, “flag” appendage at tip of mid and upper stem leaves
Fruit/Seed: brown seed with tuft of white hair
Height: 4-16 inches
Flowering: April - June
Habitat: dry fields, prairies, savannas, open woods
