Description 3

Flower: Yellow simple shaped, 5 petals
Leaves: ¾ to 1½ inches long, up to 1/3 inch wide, toothless and hairless, 3 or more distinct major veins, oppositely attached, often pointing upward, blunt or pointed tip, usually a rounded base, no leaf stalk
Fruit/Seed: maroon to purplish conical capsule about ¼ inch long, longer than the sepals
Height: 6-30 inches
Flowering: June - September
Habitat: wet meadows, shores, ditches, fens
