CAP 1/2 to 1 1/2 inches broad, cone-shaped, slimy, red, reddish orange, or yellow; flesh greenish yellow, very soft. ODOR and TASTE not special. GILLS narrowly attached to stem (not decurrent), pale orange then greenish yellow. STEM 1 1/2 to 4 inches long, less than 1/4 inch thick, smooth, slimy, hollow, pale orange-yellow then greenish yellow. MICROSTRUCTURES spores 9-12 x 5-6 microns; PL.

SIMILAR H. conica (only cap viscid),
H. autoconica (does not blacken)
