Baltzo, "Lichens of Mt. Diablo State Park", 1989. Notes: Semi-shiny to dull dark brown thallus, areole-squamules thinner than in L. atrobrunnea, with more intervening space showing black hypothallus; squamules becoming irregularly crennate and turned up marginally, UV-; apothecia may be prunose.
