Ranunculus acris is a species of flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae, and is one of the more common buttercups across Europe and temperate Eurasia. Common names include meadow buttercup, tall buttercup, common buttercup and giant buttercup.

How to recognize it? 5

5 to 7 yellow, glossy petals per flower. Hollow stems. Hand-shaped leaves. Lower leaves are on long stalks. Grow to 1m (3.3 ft).

Native lookalike: Native Buttercups - not glossy.

When are they blooming in Banff National Park? Second week of June at the earliest. Full bloom in July and early August. Bloom/seeding continuing on until early September.
