Cedar Waxwing

Bombycilla cedrorum

ID Notes 5

The Cedar Waxwing, Bombycilla cedrorum, is named for its colorful wax-like wing and tail tips. It is similar in size to an American Robin, but appears sleeker. Cedar Waxwings are pale brown on the head and chest fading into a gray color on the back and wings. Their belly is pale yellow. Their face has a black mask outlined in white. The waxy-looking tips on the tail are bright yellow. The additional waxy red tips on the wing feathers are often less visible.
