Taxidea taxus is a small creature that is stoutly built. They have short legs with large foreclaws that are one of their most identifiable characteristics. Their fur is a tan-gray color except for their heads which are white and black stripes as shown in the above photo. They have a highly diversified diet which can include squirrels, gophers, ground-nesting birds, snakes, and insects. They are mostly active at night and during the summer. They can be found in Iron County.

The American badger (Taxidea taxus) is a North American badger, somewhat similar in appearance to the European badger. It is found in the western and central United States, northern Mexico, and south-central Canada to certain areas of southwestern British Columbia.
