The amber salamander, amber-colored salamander, tortoiseshell salamander, or Stejneger's oriental salamander (Hynobius stejnegeri) is a species of salamander in the Hynobiidae family, endemic to Japan. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and rivers. It is threatened by habitat loss.
