Sthenias puncticornis

Sthenias puncticornis is a species of beetle in the family Cerambycidae. It was described by Léon Fairmaire in 1891.
Its body is about 25 mm long.
Breeding. It first cuts a branch of Voacanga, beaver-like. Then as this branch falls it stays on the cut-off piece and lays its eggs here. The wood-boring larva lives in this branch which lies on the forest floor. It eventually bores out as an adult beetle. The egg-laying to adult stage takes several months.
These beetles may have a considerable impact on the Voacanga plants - many of which show evidence of having branches cut off at some time in the past - resultng in branching
