This species is known only from the type locality, Maraynioc, in Junín Department, Peru. It might be a restricted-range species.
There is no information on its current population status. It has not been seen or collected since the 1800s.
It is presumably found in montane cloud forest, where it is probably a terrestrial species that breeds by direct development.
It is not known to occur in any protected areas; further research is needed into this little-known species.
Listed as Data Deficient in view of the absence of recent information on its extent of occurrence, threats, status and ecological requirements.
