Taxonomic notes: In the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) conspicillatus group following the original publication (Lehr et al. 2006) and in the genus Pristimantis following Heinicke et al. (2007).
This species is known from several geographical localities at elevations of 2,400–3,000 m asl in the Province of Pasco, Region of Pasco, Peru (Lehr et al. 2006). Its range, taken as a proxy for extent of occurrence (EOO), is estimated to be 676 km2.
It occurs in cloud forest (E. Lehr pers. comm. 2008). It has been found at night between 1900–2300 h on the ground or on vegetation up to 1 m above the ground. During the day, individuals can be found among leaf litter and under stones (Lehr et al. 2006). It is presumed to breed by direct development. It is not known whether this species is able to tolerate habitat disturbance (E. Lehr pers. comm. August 2013).
Deforestation due to agriculture has been observed in the valley of Paucartambo where this species occurs (E. Lehr pers. comm. August 2013, von May et al. 2008).
No conservation actions are currently known for this species. Protection of sites where this species occurs is required. More research is needed into this species' population status and ecology.
Listed as Near Threatened given that its extent of occurrence is estimated to be 676 km2 and there is continuing decline of its cloud forest habitat in central Peru.
