The Pūkorokoro Miranda Naturalists' Trust (PMNT) Wildlife Project records interesting observations in the Pūkorokoro Shorebird Centre grounds, Robert Findlay Wildlife Reserve and adjacent coastal habitat.
Of special interest are butterflies and moths, skinks, and native plants.
The purpose is to explore links between the ongoing habitat restoration in these areas and increased biodiversity of the micro fauna. Monitoring moth and skink populations is part of the restoration work.
Revegetation of the Shorebird Centre grounds started in 1990 and continues today for enhanced amenity and biodiversity values.
The ongoing restoration of the Robert Findlay Wildlife Reserve saltmarsh and coastal chenier plain habitat which began in 2019, is focused around planting, weed control and water management.
The adjacent Taramaire Wildlife Reserve managed by the Department of Conservation is also under a weed control and native planting plan.
