Timber Rattlesnake

Crotalus horridus

Summary 2

Timber Rattlesnakes are snakes of the hardwood forests of the eastern United States. They reach the very western edge of their range in east central Texas. There is at least one historical record from Bexar County, but Dixon (2000) doubted the validity of that record. If they ever did occur in the county, they are almost certainly extirpated now.
