Xylocopa (Lestis) female peeks out of her hole in an old Banksia trunk.
Entered this before but much better photos on same leptospermum hedge as flower wasp and photo of Apis mellifera demonstates how large these beautiful carpenter bees are.
A Golden-green Carpenter Bee was seen visiting the flowers on a climbing plant, Hibbertia scandens in our garden several times over a three day period.
First recording of the Green Carpenter Bee - one of our largest bees and I think the most beautiful - saw one last autumn but no photo so it was exciting to find one in spring on my property.
I filmed them to, which was really fascinating but can’t see a way of putting it on the app yet if anyone knows let me know or if anyone wants me to send them an email of the video so happy to share , was so exciting to find these little guys here’s a link https://www.instagram.com/p/B8Ff-eVAgkO/?
