Frog/Toad Species of the Hampton Roads Area

Frogs are amphibians that are known for their jumping abilities, croaking, bulging eyes, and slimy skin. They can be found on every continent in the world except for Antarctica, but the highest concentration is in warmer tropical climates. Historically some species of amphibians would disappear every 250 years. In the United States, there were about 120 disappearances since 1980 leaving only 90 species of frogs in the United states. Currently there are 28 species of frogs and toads native to the state of Virginia. In the Hampton area there are 12 species in the Hampton Roads area. menos ↑
